GENEVA, Switzerland: Parents of autistic children are demanding
that the psycho-analytical approach to autism ends once and for all and
that specialised schools are created in Geneva.
"I watched some programmes on the television. I had
a child who, at three years old, was arranging his books in an
obsessional way, lining up pebbles and being very picky with his food.
It wasn't normal. I went to the child experts and asked: 'Is he
autistic?' They replied: 'No, he has behavioural problems.' It was
vague, but I suddenly felt relieved." Two years later,
