A FEW years ago, I went to hear Jerry Newport - the inspiration for the
movie Mozart and the Whale
- speak in London. Apart from stunning his audience with his
astonishing calendrical skills, he provided valuable insights into
living with Asperger's syndrome.
"Every day of my life, there are things that I can't
do, and I will be frustrated by the fact that others can do them. I am
not so much of a visual thinker as Temple Grandin. I cannot remember
everything about the Tower of London, Windsor Castle or Buckingham
Palace, even though I've only just visited them. But I can remember
enough to enjoy reliving the experience ...
