Five-year-old boy escapes to catch train (extract)

HAYES, Middlesex, UK: A five-year-old autistic boy slipped away unnoticed and boarded a train.Ellis Jenkins was playing in the garden of his family home in Chatsworth Close, West Wickham, when he managed to unbolt the gate and find his way to Hayes station, where he boarded a train. Relieved mum Mandy, 36, believes Ellis must have only been out of sight for a moment when he went missing at around lunchtime on December 9.
       The mother-of-three said: "We'd had an electrician round in the morning and Ellis had gone to play in the garden. The man swore he had bolted the gate, which means Ellis must have worked out how to get it open"
